Sunny Ade's Guitar and Costume @ Musical Instrument Museum
A guitar and stage costume owned by King Sunny Ade on display at the Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), a 200,000 square-foot facility which houses more than 15,000 musical instruments and associated objects from around the globe. The two-year-old museum employs advanced wireless technology and high-resolution video screens, enabling visitors to see instruments, hear their sound and observe them being played in their original settings. Museum holdings include the Steinway piano on which John Lennon composed Imagine; Carlos Santana's custom Yamaha guitar with inlaid Buddhist motifs; Eric Clapton's Brownie Fender Stratocaster guitar, on which he played Layla; and the very first Steinway piano ever built.
